One person has been confirmed dead when a boat capsized at Kete-Krachi in the Krachi West District of Oti region.

The dead is a two-year-old girl.

She was travelling with five others who have all been rescued.

They were traveling across the Volta Lake from Kete-Krachi to a village in the Sene East District of Bono East Region called Okpalama.

The district NADMO Director, Benedicta Akadusi confirmed the unfortunate incident to GBC’s Micah Tulevo.

“Around One o’clock, the rain started so there was a little bit of windstorm and a boat, they came to the market of Kete-Krachi, so they were going back and they had an accident on the Lake. They were six in the boat—two women, two men, and two children. Five of them were rescued by a young man called Raphael but they couldn’t find one of the babies instantly. Then later, they found her dead. The girl is about two-year-old.”
