The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially opened a cutting-edge passport application center in Bolgatanga, in the Upper East Region, revolutionizing access to travel documentation for residents.
This strategic initiative promises to streamline the application process, making it faster, easier, and more convenient for citizens in the region to obtain passports.
Until now, residents of the Upper East Region faced a daunting journey, traveling extensive distances to Tamale, Kumasi, or Wa to process their passports.
But that’s all changing with the launch of the new passport application center in Bolgatanga. According to Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane, MP for Nabdam, this new facility marks a new chapter in convenience and accessibility for the region.

“For the past eight years, it just been talk without action on the passport office for the Upper East Region. Today, with the efforts of the sector Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and President John Mahama, we are happy to have such a facility in Bolgatanga to serve the purpose it was put up,” Dr. Nawaane stressed.
The new office was officially opened by the Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa at a ceremony involving chiefs, Members of Parliament, District Chief Executives, and hundreds of excited residents.

“The acquisition of passport is not a privilege. Every Ghanaian citizen is entitled to a passport and we have to bring this services to the doorstep of all Ghanaians and I am glad that today, we are making that possible.” The Minister said.
In a historic milestone, residents of the Upper East Region can now apply for and receive passports without leaving the region. The new passport office is hailed by traditional leaders and residents alike as a catalyst for growth, promising to reduce travel costs and unlock doors to business, education, and international opportunities.
