BONABOTO confab slated for December 27

 The 11th National BONABOTO Delegate Congress is set to come off on Thursday December 27 at the Bolgatanga Polytechnic in the Upper East region of Ghana under the theme; “Enhancing Integrated Community Development in the whole of BONABOTO.” The Delegate Congress is an event that the BONATO group organize every two years to deliberate on issues of National importance and of the BONABOTO area.

 BONABOTO is a union of citizens who hail from the environment of the Bolgatanga, Bongo and Talensi- Nambdam District of the Upper East region of Ghana. BONABOTO is actually an acronym that stands for Bolgato, Nangodi, Bongo and Tongo, the four major towns within the above-mentioned Districts.

It is a non- political, non- religious development-oriented association of liked-minded people who have the singular interest of seeing to the holistic development of the BONABOTO area in particular, and Ghana in general.

Speaking on GBC’s Uniiq FM Breakfast Drive, the Public Relations Officer of BONABOTO, Denis Akugre, said the BONABOTO is an advocacy group that advocates for development in the BONABOTO area. He said the group has embarked on lots of developmental projects in the BONABOTO area. On the field on academics, the group has been able to establish an educational fund called the BONABOTO Education Assistance Fund (B.E.A.F), where they support students who gain admission to the university but are not able to go because of financial issues.

“Education is the backbone of every community. We have taken education very seriously that we have established an educational fund called BONABOTO Education Assistance Farm where we support especially students who are in the tertiary institutions,” he revealed.

Mr. Akugre also added that the BONABOTO group has embarked on Mango tree planting in the area.

The National Secretary of BONABOTO, Philip Atinga also revealed that the group is currently advocating for an airport in the Upper East region. The group also makes sure there is always peace in the BONABOTO area.

  He added that the congress will be graced by well-known personalities. There is also going to be a section where there will be talks on projects implementation that the government is putting in place for the BONABOTO area and reports will be given by all the BONABOTO branches on what they have been able to achieve so far.

 He noted that after the congress, the group will mobilize resources and organize books to donate to the Regional Library at Bolgatanga in the Upper East region. New Executives of the group will also be elected.
