The Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi, has commended the contractor and consultant working on the new CHPS compound at Akropong in the Nkoranza South Municipality for quality work done.
The project, funded by the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), is to replace an existing rented facility which has limited space and facilities.
Speaking during an inspection tour of development projects in the municipality, Mr. Antwi said every district and municipality is expected to construct two CHPS compounds under the DACF arrangement, and Nkoranza South has completed its quota.
“So far, so good. They’ve done fantastic work. Per the arrangement of the Common Fund, every district, every municipality should construct two CHPS compounds. Here in Nkoranza Municipality, they’ve done all the two projects, so I give them a plus for that,” he said.

“When it comes to quality of work, they have done well, fantastic work. So let me applaud the contractor, let me applaud the consultant and the MCE for the good work,” he added.
The Regional Minister explained that the facility was strategically sited at Akropong for two main reasons. One is to serve students of the proposed Nursing and Midwifery Training College, whose infrastructure is currently under construction, and the other is to serve surrounding communities within the enclave.
He however disclosed that the contractor has exceeded the contract duration and has been given a one-month ultimatum to complete the project for commissioning.
“They have exceeded their duration and we have given them one month for this project to be commissioned,” Mr. Antwi stated, assuring that monitoring will continue.

Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for the Akropong-Dandwa Electoral Area, Mr. Francis Kyeremeh-Antwi, has welcomed the project, describing it as timely.
He said the new facility will ease congestion at the current rented premises and enable health workers to provide quality healthcare to residents.
According to him, the existing facility is inadequate to serve the growing population, including nearby communities and the future nursing trainees once the college is established.
Mr. Kyeremeh-Antwi lauded government and the Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South for the timely intervention and expressed optimism that the new CHPS compound will significantly improve access to healthcare delivery in the area.
