The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two brothers over the alleged killing of a 54-year-old man and the shooting of his wife at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, near Weija.
The suspects, identified as Adams Adder Almeida and his brother, Bala Bayon, were arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
In a statement issued on Sunday, August 9, the police said the arrests were made with support from the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET).
Police said the Weija Police received a report that a man and his wife had been shot at their residence at Beach Drive Estate.
Officers who responded to the scene found Mohammed Rahman, 54, and his wife, Christiana Fosu, suffering from gunshot wounds outside their four-bedroom apartment.
The couple was taken to Fieney Hospital in Weija for treatment. However, Mr Rahman was pronounced dead on arrival, while his wife received medical attention for her injuries.
According to the police, subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Adams Adder Almeida, who allegedly confessed during interrogation to shooting the couple.
Police said the suspect told investigators that he and the victims lived in the same house at Tuba. He also allegedly indicated that the incident had affected him mentally, although the police did not provide further details about what led to the shooting.
The suspect further claimed that the pistol allegedly used in the attack was given to him by a friend identified only as Gideon.
Investigators subsequently went to Gideon’s residence at Tuba based on the information provided by the suspect, but he was not at home.
“Efforts are ongoing to locate him to assist with investigations,” the police said.
Adams’ brother, Bala Bayon, has also been arrested and is assisting the police with investigations. The police have not disclosed his alleged involvement in the incident.
The Accra Regional Police Command said investigations remain ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting and locate Gideon, who is alleged to have supplied the firearm.
