Fire gutted a house close to the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange at a circle between the East Cantonments Pharmacy, and the former Tobacco House.

According to eyewitnesses the fire started around 7am this morning, prompting residents to call the Ghana Fire Service.

Two fire tenders were deployed to help fight the fire. The cause is not immediately known.

According to residents, the family of the said house were preparing for a funeral to be held tomorrow when an alarm was raised about the fire.

Mr. Giovani Geraldo a member of the family said they called the Ghana Fire Service earlier, but, the Officers could not douse the fire due to a faulty pump.

A second fire tender was called in but the situation remained the same until a third tender arrived to quench the fire.

Mr. Biggle Geraldo who is also a family member said the fire has destroyed everything in the building.

Earlier, Firefighters were still at the scene trying to put out the fire when the GTV Breakfast Show Team got to the scene.

GBC’s reporter Allan Darel Tagoe was at the scene and spoke to some of the residents and on-lookers.
