Bullion Van Attack: AMA Boss visits James Town

The Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Mr. Mohammed Adjei Sowah has visited James Town, a suburb of Accra where two persons were shot dead when three armed men on two motorbikes with unidentified number, attacked and robbed a bullion Nissan van with registration number GT 8592w with the inscription Mon-Tran company, on Monday 14 June.

The robbers who are said to have fired indiscriminately, shot a policeman on escort duty and killed him, instantly. The body of constable Emmanuel Osei of the national swat was found in a pool of blood at the front seat.

The driver of the bullion van also sustained gunshot wounds and is currently receiving treatment at the Korle Bu teaching hospital, whiles a woman named Afua Badu aged about 40 was hit by a stray bullet.

According to the James Town Police Command who rushed to the scene of the incident, spot enquires revealed the deceased was pursued and shot at for raising an alarm.

Police also located Grace Essel, one of the officials who escaped unhurt by taking refuge in the community. She has been sent to the police hospital for treatment.

The two bodies have been conveyed to the police hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The suspected robbers made away with the policeman’s weapon and an unspecified amount of money.

Police say investigations are underway.
