Celebrate Christmas with decorum – Overlord of Dagbon Ya-Na Abukari

The Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Abukari has asked all and sundry in Dagbon and its surrounding communities to celebrate Christmas with decorum.

He said most times, Christmas is considered a risky season for all road users due to increases in motorization and travel before and during the period, as well as the excitement and merry-making, which is characterized by total disrespect for road traffic rules and regulations.

ln a statement signed by the secretary of the Gbewaa Palace, Abdul-Rahaman Mohammed, the Overlord, who is also a Road Safety Ambassador described the carnage on the roads as appalling and unacceptable, and therefore to reminds all road users to avoid indiscipline such as over speeding, wrongful overtaking, fatigue driving, driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, and wrongful road crossings by pedestrians.

Ya-na Abukari stressed that accident-free Christmas is possible, provided road users will adhere to road safety regulations.

The Overlord commended the Ghana Road Safety Authority, the MTTD Department, DVLA, and all stakeholders for the collaboration with the Gbewaa Palace throughout the year to ensure road safety in Northern Region and its environs.

Overlord on Road Safety

Meanwhile, the National Road Safety Authority has commended the Ya Na, for his support for the Authority’s road safety campaigns.

Director of Planning at the Authority David Adonteng described the gesture as a step in the right direction and urged other high profile personalities to join the campaign.
