The Judicial Service has clarified that recent observations made by the Chief Justice regarding the performance of some state-owned institutions were made in good faith and were not intended to undermine judicial independence.
A statement signed by the Secretary of the Judicial Service, Mr Musah Ahmed, on September 4, 2026, said the Chief Justice had taken note of the mixed public reaction to comments he made during a recent outreach engagement.
The Service said the remarks should not be interpreted as serving any purpose inimical to the independence of the Judiciary.
The statement said the Chief Justice remains committed to upholding the integrity and independence of the Judiciary, as well as promoting justice and equality before the law.
