By Tilda Elinam Acorlor

The Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) Volta-Oti chapter has been honoured by the Chiefs and people of the Kpando Traditional Area for their good reportage in promoting tourism and driving business interest in the Akpini state.

The commendation took place at the forecourt of the Okpekpewuokpe Torgbuiga Dagadu IX Palace in Kpando when organizers and ambassadors of the Volta Trade and Investment Fair made a stop in Kpando for the Visit Volta Initiative 2023.

The GJA Volta-Oti branch has been very instrumental in covering compelling stories of the Kpando traditional area and promoting tourist sites in the Akpini enclave which Torgbuiga Dagadu IX has been impressed with.

He urged the media to market Kpando and the entire region to the world through their reports.

“It is my firm expectation that Kpando  and consequently the entire region will be promoted to the world through their reportage” he said.

Torgbuiga Dagadu IX gave his continuous assurance “to sell a culturally rich traditional area with a unique history and relentless spirit.”

Kpando is the home of a spiritual and religious ground of essence, the Agbenoxoe Grotto, which is the biggest religious pilgrimage for Catholics as well as fertile lands, awesome lake resources, the Fesi Pottery and Torkor fish market among others.

Apart from GJA Volta-Oti other Ambassadors like Bernard Avle, Emefa Apawu, Kafui Dey, Ivy Prosper, and Dzifa Gbeho-Bampoe were also honoured.

Until Togbuiga Dagadu IX became Chief of Kpando, he practiced as a journalist in Kumasi.
