Chiefs call for upgrade of only health facility in Wurupong Traditional Area

The Chiefs and people of Nkonya Wurupong Traditional Area in the Oti Region, have appealed to the government to as a matter of urgency rehabilitate and upgrade their only health facility.

The health facility according to them was built in 1958 and has since not seen any rehabilitation as the population it is intended to serve has grown exponentially.

The Chiefs and the people of Nkonya Wurupong Traditional Area made the appeal in Accra at the launch of their 2019 Sankyiba Festival.

The Chiefs and people of the Nkonya Wurupong Traditional Area belong to the Guan speaking tribe of Ghana.

The Sankyiba festival is used to recount their migration from Nyanowase through Larteh Kubease, Aseseeso, Senchi to their current location.

The Paramount Chief of the area, Nana Kwadwo Asiakwa, invited all indigenes of Nkonya Wurupong resident in Ghana and abroad to attend the festival and give towards the development of their community.

The Kyidomhene of the Nkonya Wurupong Traditional Area, Nana Kofi Ampadu said the Sankyiba festival scheduled for November 25 to December 1 will climax their one and half months yam festival of all the Nkonya communities.

The launch of the Sankyiba festival was preceded and interspersed with singing, drumming and dancing to provide a prelude to what is to be expected from November 25 to December 1.
