How important is Making or Writing a Will to you? A will is a written statement of a person as to how his or her property should be shared among family members when one passes on.

Private Legal Practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, has been speaking about some common concerns when it comes to the writing or making of a Will in Ghana.

While on the GTV Breakfast Show on January 21, 2022, Mr. Ampaw explained that it is critical to seek the services of a Legal Practitioner.

”Before making a Will, one needs to get a good lawyer to guide him and explain legal terminologies pertaining to the Will.”

”The Will should be written in simple language for the understanding of the parties involved instead of a technical language,” he posited.

Characteristics of a good Will, according to Mr. Ampaw, is one that specifically describes and or mentions the beneficiaries when making the will.

He explained that a lot of husbands surprise their wives with property scattered all over, across without their wives knowledge.

”They only hear about them when their husbands are dead and gone,” he said.

He continued by saying, even if a child is born out of wedlock, The 1992 Constitution recognises that child. He concluded by saying, a will making or writing is a right and a responsibility.
