The Chinese Community in Ghana has cautioned the western world to desist from masterminding violence and unrest in Hong Kong for their parochial interests.

They accused Britain, the colonial masters of Hong Kong and America for using a few people in Hong Kong to create chaos leading to the molestation of innocent citizens since February last year.

This was made known when the associations of Chinese groups and businesses in Ghana held a media briefing at Sentuo Ceramincs in Tema.

For the past two months, violent demonstrations and riots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, HKSAR, of the People’s Republic of China has attracted global attention.

The problem in Hong Kong started with the HKSAR government’s intention to revise the Fugitive Offenders Ordinance, Extradition Bill, between China, Macau and Taiwan, and later announced that the revision will be stopped but the violence did not stop.

The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Shi Ting Wang, said a few Hong Kong citizens who have little or no understanding of the One Country, Two Systems concept and the Judicial system have allowed themselves to be used by the western media and other powers for monetary reasons.

He stressed that the Central Government of China will not allow a few selfish individuals to create chaotic situations and drag Hong Kong into disarray.

He emphasized that their displeasure with the current unpleasant development in Hong Kong. Mr. Wang urged the supposed faceless foreign forces behind the unfortunate occurrence to respect China’s sovereignty and security and stop interfering in the affairs of Hong Kong.

Hong Kong was returned to China in 1997 after being colonized by the British for over a century.

It has since operated a seemingly autonomous governance system, though it is a part of mainland China.

China as a whole embraces the system dubbed:, “One-Country-Two-Systems” which has culminated in the unity and progress of Hong Kong as well as the entire Chinese economy until the recent alleged British-America fuelled unrest.
