Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG), in collaboration with Coalition of Volunteering Organizations of Ghana (COVOG), has marked this year’s International Women’s Day with a call on young women to broaden their knowledge on sexual and reproductive issues.

The two organisations as part of activities to mark the day organised a health screening for women at Chorkor in the Greater Accra Region.

The Programs Officer of PPAG, Mrs. Antoinette Da-Rocha said although the whole country and the world at large are focusing on curbing the Covid-19 pandemic, residents should continue paying attention to Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

Women should also endeavor to avoid negative reproductive practices.

The Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG), partnered with the Coalition of Volunteering Organisations of Ghana (COVOG) to focus this year’s International Women’s Day on helping to fight teenage pregnancy and Sexually Transmitted Diseases, STDs which are endemic in Chorkor, a suburb of Accra.

The residents went through health screening and were given condoms to prevent them from contracting STDs and unplanned pregnancies.

General Secretary of COVOG, Shadrach Opoku Brix, said the programme forms part of activities marking International Women’s Day. It was also used to educate women on improving their livelihood.
