The Christian Council of Ghana on Friday condemned the killing of Mr Ahmed Hussein-Suale, an investigative journalist and a member of the Tiger Eye PI team who was shot by unknown assailants on Wednesday, January 16 near Accra.

The Council is therefore calling on the requisite institutions of the state to investigate comprehensively, and bring to justice, those who masterminded “this dastardly attack and the recent spate of killings”.

A statement signed by the General Secretary of the Christian Council, Revered Dr. Cyril Gershon Fayose said journalists were not enemies but partners in national development.

“As conveyors of information, they perform an important role in the democratic decision-making system, as their work brings transparency into our societies. Journalists act as informants and watchdogs in keeping our communities safe.

“It is therefore unacceptable when a journalist is attacked”.

The Council urged all citizens to report suspicious characters and activities in their communities to the law enforcement agencies.

“Your sense of security is essential to defeating the bad characters in our communities”, the Council said.

The Council further expressed its condolences to the family of the late Mr Hussein-Suale.
