The Executive Director of the Africa Center for the Study of Worldviews and Holistic Development, Dr. Christopher Ampadu, has called on Christians to abandon all forms of behaviour that contradict the teachings of the Bible as the Easter festivities unfold.

Speaking to GBC News, Dr. Ampadu described Good Friday as not just a day for singing and dancing but a time for deep reflection on the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

“This day is not just for celebration. It is a time for us to reflect deeply on what Christ went through—His pain, His shame, and His suffering, for our sake. If we truly understand what Jesus did for us, then we cannot continue to live in sin and pretend all is well,” he said.

Dr. Ampadu expressed concern about the rise in negative behaviours among people who claim to be Christians. He highlighted corruption, hatred, greed, jealousy, and dishonesty as major issues that go against Christian values.

“We cannot call ourselves Christians and still be greedy, dishonest, and corrupt. These acts make the death of Christ of no value. If we continue living with hatred and animosity in our hearts, then we are ignoring the very essence of Christ’s sacrifice,” he stressed.

He urged Christians to live out their faith not only in church but in every area of their lives. According to him, Christianity should be visible in one’s actions at work, at home, in marriages, and in professional life.

“Let’s not only honour Christ with our songs and church activities. Let us honour Him with our lives. People should be able to see Christ in us, not just because we go to church, but because of the way we live day by day,” Dr. Ampadu noted.

He added that Ghana’s struggles with poverty and underdevelopment were not necessarily due to a lack of prayer but rather the result of widespread dishonesty and a lack of integrity among many who profess the Christian faith.

“We pray, we fast, and we go to church regularly, yet look at where we find ourselves as a nation. It is not because God has not blessed us. It’s because many of those who claim to be Christians do not live the values they preach,” he intimated.

Dr. Ampadu encouraged believers to rise above hypocrisy and become true examples of light and hope in the world. He also wished all Christians a blessed and meaningful Easter.
