Today (24th December) is Christmas eve, the festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ. It has its own customs and traditions.

The most widely practised one that still exists today is Midnight Mass Church Service.

In some countries, this is the most important Church service of the Christmas season. People fast during Christmas Eve and then the main Christmas meal is often eaten after the Midnight Mass Service in these countries.

In some cultures, presents are exchanged and opened on Christmas Eve.

Many homes will have their Christmas trees lit up, mistletoes hung, and other Christmas decorations, such as holly and ivy, at this time of the year.

In Ghana, vigils are also expected to be held in churches as socials events will be alive.
