Civil Society advocates constant pressure on persons in power to act responsibly

Civil Society Organisation, IMANI Africa is advocating constant pressure from all Ghanaians to make persons in positions of power to act responsibly and be accountable to the people.

Vice President of IMANI, Kofi Bentil said this at the 3rd Star-Ghana annual strategic learning panel discussion in Accra. He said the rate at which persons in authority flout laws requires pressure groups to put them on their toes and make them accountable.

The 3rd Annual Strategic Learning event seeks to mobilize people to get involved in active citizenship. It also looks at how to support various groups and political actors to engage properly to strengthen democracy in the country. Vice President of IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil emphasized on the need for civil society groups to be resolute in their various campaigns to make politicians and state actors to work within the ambit of the laws of the country while respecting the rights of the people.

Executive Director, of the STAR-GHANA foundation, Ibrahim Tanko also added his voice to calls for CSOs to be firm in their actions to help produce a healthy democracy and overall national development. He entreated established organized groups to nurture new ones so that the campaign for effective governance to spread across all sectors of the country.
