The Chief Justice, Justice Anin Yeboah has refused a petition asking him to refer a Motion for Justice Clemence Honyenuga to recuse himself to a different judge.

Dr. Stephen Kwabena Opuni who is standing trial at the Criminal Division of the Accra High Court with two others has accused the judge of showing bias and hostility towards him ever since he opened his defence.

However, the response from Chief Justice through a letter signed by the Judicial Secretary said that upon thorough consideration of the petition, he does not see any evidence of bias exhibited by Justice Honyenuga in the ongoing trial.

The Chief Justice said that  it would not be fair to the Court for the case to be moved to another judge. To this end the Chief justice has, therefore, authorised Justice Honyenuga to hear the motion for his recusal.

According to our Court correspondent Yvonne Asare Offei, Lawyer for the First Accused Person, Samuel Codjoe has moved the Motion and the prosecution  is currently arguing its opposition to the Motion.
