The Greater Accra Director, National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Madam Lucille Hewlett Annan has disclosed that one of her organization’s flagship programme is the Constitution Week which is celebrated annually in Ghana.

According to her, the NCCE has segmented the Ghanaian populace to enable them to disseminate information contained in the 1992 Republican Constitution of Ghana.

Speaking on the GTV Breakfast Show on Monday, May 16, 2022, the Greater Accra Director of NCCE mentioned that segmentation was very critical because the kind of population was necessitated by the fact that NCCE could not accept one blanket set of education for all.

She said the NCCE’s primary role is to educate Ghanaians on the existence and importance of the 1992 Republican Constitution of Ghana to enable the populace to defend it.

“When you come to Ghana you will see that there are various segments of the society; children, adolescents, in-school and out-school youth, the adults, etc. thus we have to devise other means to educate everybody since we cannot use one blanket education approach for all” Madam Hewlett Annan pointed out.

The Constitution week was instituted in 2001 to commemorate the coming into force of the 1992 Constitution.

The 1992 Republican Constitution of Ghana has seen three decades of uninterrupted Constitutional Rule.
