Six out of nine COVID-19 cases test negative in Northern Region

Six out of nine Covid-19 cases in Northern Region test negative after undergoing treatment.
According to the Northern Regional Health Directorate, if a second test result confirms the first result, the six will be declared free of the disease and discharged.
At a media briefing in Tamale today (April 16), a Deputy Northern Regional Director of Health, Dr. Braimah Baba Abubakari, disclosed that, though the other three results came out positive, the patients are responding to treatment.
Dr. Braimah also dismissed social media reports that there has not been sufficient contact tracing after the region recorded the ten cases.
He said the regional health Directorate has contact traced 72 persons including some staff of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, adding that, they have all tested negative.
The Regional Health Directorate has also been grappling with rumors of suspected cases. Dr. Braimah disclosed that, about 274 rumors have so far been reported and explored.
He said though most of the rumors turned out to be negative, it showed that communities in the region are taking the disease seriously.
He urged the public to remain calm and observe the COVID-19 protocols as well as report any suspected cases to the directorate for further attention.
