Counselors schooled on 21st century counseling

A two-day workshop for Counselors has been organized in Accra yesterday (October 19), to equip practitioners with effective ways to administer their services.

President of the Ghana National Association of Certified Counselors, Cecilia Tutu Dankwa asked pastors and leaders to undertake counseling courses to enable them give expert advice.

With the rise in mental health challenges, there is the need for all to take counseling serious. Counseling is described as a talking therapy that involves trained professionals listening to their clients and finding possible ways to deal with their emotional issues.

In advanced countries, counseling is the first point of call when anyone is faced with a challenge. In Africa and Ghana to be precise counseling is still making in-rows.

Often people deal with divorce, death of a loved one, loss of a job, loneliness and terminal diseases and depression alone, instead of seeking psychological assistance from a professional. It is for this reason that an International Conference for Counselors and Associates has been organized.

In the next two days, the professionals will be trained to administer services to individuals who need to work on peoples Psychology .

Madam Cecilia Dapaah appealed to pastors and leaders to take courses in counseling to ensure that they give expert advice.

The conference is focused on equipping counselors and associates with 21st century Counseling skills.
