The National House of Chiefs has condemned in no uncertain terms the call by some elements in Ghana for a Coup d’état as an alternative to democratic governance. According to the House, in spite of some shortcomings and imperfections that might have been associated with democratic governance, the positive effects of rule of law far outweigh its weaknesses. It has also condemned Russia invasion in Ukraine and called on world leaders to use negotiations to find a lasting solution to the impasse.
President of the House Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi said this at the first meeting of the house in kumasi.
The House also sworn in Naa Seidu Braimah Nubalanaang, Guli Naa by a Supervising High Court Judge in Kumasi, Justice Kofi Akrowiah as a member of the House.
In an interview, the Drobomanhene Okokyeredom Sakyi Ako said, Ghana’s records in military interventions have not been encouraging.
”They rather intervene to enrich and worsen the existing conditions they claimed to have come to address”, he opined.
Okokyeredom Sakyi Arko went back in time referencing the military administrations in Ghana and objected to any form of Coup d’état.
