Mackenzie Ghana at the weekend presented 100 re-usable nose masks to the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) for onwards distribution to Journalists and media practitioners in the Bono Region to protect themselves, as they report on the COVID-19.

Already, the Sunyani-based local manufacturing company, and dealers in sports kits, has presented 1,000 pieces of the masks to the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regional Health Directorate.

The Managing Director of Mackenzie GH  Mr Michael Asare Yeboah, said Journalists played a frontal role in the fight against the spread of the COVID-19, and they also required Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs).

He said the company was producing more of the nose masks, and it would soon supply other relevant state institutions with the items to stem the spread of the disease.

The Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regional Chairman of the GJA,  Mr. Larry Paa Kwes Moses, thanked the company for the support.

He said recently, the Sunyani Technical University, presented some sanitizers to media organizations in the Sunyani Municipality and appealed to corporate institutions to also support the media.

The GJA Chairman advised Journalists to avoid unnecessary embellishment in reporting on COVID-19 and endeavour to crosscheck their facts from the right sources and guard against stories that could scare the populace and stigmatize COVID-19 patients.
