COVID-19: Ghana’s death toll reaches 785 after two deaths

Two more persons have succumbed to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease in Ghana, increasing the country’s death toll to 785.

An update from the Ghana Health Service portal indicates that as of Friday, May 28, 2021, the country has recorded 49 new cases bringing the cumulative number of active cases to 1,169.

The death toll from COVID-19 in Ghana was 783 as of Saturday, May 8, 2021.

The country now has a test positivity rate of eight per cent and a total of 94,011 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

The number of persons who have recovered/discharged is 92,057 with 18 persons in severe condition and 6 others in critical condition.

Out of 281,281 tests conducted on international travelers at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA), 1,737 have tested positive from the illness.

The Greater Accra Region remains the hotspot of the ailment in Ghana with 775 active cases and a case count of 51,723.

The Ashanti Region has 127 active cases with a case count of 15, 612 followed by the Central Region with 98 active cases and a case count of 3,513 and the Western Region with 45 active cases and a case count of 5,891.

Meanwhile, the Upper East and Northern Region have zero active cases.
