The incident attracted widespread condemnation across the country whilst some including the government visited the Community to assess the situation and sympathize with the people.

The eight men killed left behind 20 widows and many children.

A visit to the community revealed deplorable conditions, including inadequate accommodation, food, clothing and poor sanitary conditions.

The fifty-seven persons left in the Community have been left to their fate without a source of livelihood.

The Secretary to the Yendi Peace Center, Atia Peter, told GBC News that, “the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) donated food on Monday, May 30th 2022, but that is not enough. They need shelter and psychosocial support to overcome the trauma”.

Government provided three tents to shelter the fifty-seven people.

Some of the women said their tents are often blown away during rainstorms.

They are appealing to individuals and benevolent organizations to come to their aid.
