The Head Pastor of the Calvary Charismatic Centre (CCC) at Ayigya in the Asokore-Mampong municipality, Reverend Ransford Obeng, has appealed to the media not to allow themselves to be used to sow seeds of disorder in the country in the run-up to the election.

He asked the media not to succumb to the lure of money and allow politicians to use their medium to spew insults and allegations and inflame passion in the country.

According to him, there was the need for the country to maintain the peace it was currently enjoying and it behoved the media practitioners to be professional and ensure that the country maintained the peace.

Election

Rev. Obeng, who was addressing the media on the upcoming Spiritual Empowerment Programme with Dr Mensa Otabil from January 17-20, 2020, said this year being an election year, all the political parties would try to outdo one another and would heavily depend on the media to achieve that.

Consequently, he said the media would be under pressure to serve all and as such might fall prey to some of the politicians who might want to use them to achieve their aim.

He, therefore, asked the media owners and practitioners alike to be vigilant and not to lend themselves to those people with not-so-good intention.

Peace

Rev. Obeng encouraged all Ghanaians to start praying now for a peaceful election and not to wait till November before calling for a peaceful election.

Aside from praying for a peaceful election, he asked Ghanaians to ask God for a leader who would take the country to the next level of its development.

“As we begin to pray and talk to God, God will answer our prayer in a peaceful way. We do not want God to answer our prayer in difficulties and wars,” he stated.

Spiritual empowerment

The Spiritual Empowerment Programme is an annual event organised by the CCC at the beginning of every year to prepare members for the challenges ahead.

The three-day event will start on Friday, January 17 and end on Sunday, January 19, 2020.
