The Techiman Municipal Manager of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Victor Ekow Takyi Sagoe, says the Authority has introduced a new numbering system for vehicles aimed at improving the Vehicle Registration in the newly created Regions.

The Manager who was speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana at Techima, said, the new number plates with the prefix ‘BT’ is one of the Authority’s innovative measures to check fraud and ensure hassle free acquisition of vehicle registration in the new Bono East Region.

The Techiman branch of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority was inaugurated about a decade ago to among others reduce pressure on the Sunyani branch in the then Brong Ahafo region.

The branch used to register vehicles with the prefix ‘BA’. But this was expected to change after the recent partitioning of the region into three, placing Techiman in the Bono East Region as Regional Capital.

Now the DVLA has introduced the BT Vehicle Number Plates instead of the much anticipated BE, which represents Bono East.

GBC’s Radio Ghana interacted with the Techiman Municipal DVLA Manager, Victor Ekow Takyi Sagoe, who threw more light on the issue.

Mr Ekow Takyi entreated all to be vigilant as fraudulent activities by some unscrupulous persons in relation to the new number plates.

The Manager also clarified that, there is a system which allows for registration of special numbers.
