The Eastern Regional Police Command says it has activated its intelligence networks and on high alert to clamp down on abduction and kidnapping incidence, should it occur there.

In an interview with GBC Radio in Koforidua, the Regional Public Affairs Director, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh assured the public that the Police are adequately resourced to deal with the latest kidnapping trend.

He therefore cautioned parents to be wary of people who come around their wards and asked them to educate their children not to accept gifts from people especially strangers.

DSP Tetteh said the command early this year arrested a man in his 40s in Koforidua for abducting his former girlfriend’s son and has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

He asked school authorities to be very vigilant and not give out children to people without the authorization of their parents.

He also called on parents not to leave their children alone at public places and report any suspicious persons to the police on the following numbers 18555, 191 or the Eastern Regional line 0299206464 for prompt action.
