Teachers at the 31st December Cluster of schools in the East Gonja Municipality are embarking on a sit-down strike following an alleged threat by some youth of the community to burn down the school.

A concerned teacher in one of the schools, Ewuntomah Abdul Wahid, in an interview with GBC News said residents of the community especially tricycle operators have turned the school compound into a short cut route in and out of the community, causing distraction during lessons and exposing pupils and teachers to danger.

According to Mr. Ewuntomah, a tricycle recently knocked down a pupil, leading to a fracture.

He said following that incident, the school authorities decided to block the routes used by the riders, but this did not go down well with some residents of the community.
