EC encourages eligible Voters to register in on-going Registration

Madam Jean Nana Mensah, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana.

The Electoral Commission’s scheduled Limited Voter Registration has begun.

The exercise which has become a subject of disagreements will be conducted at all the 268 District Offices of the EC, and is expected to end on October 2, 2023.

A statement signed by the Acting Head of public Affairs, Michael Boadu, said persons who have attained the age of 18 since the last registration and those who for one reason or the other did not register in 2020, should visit the District Office where they reside with either their Ghana Card or their Ghana Passport for registration.

The statement noted that eligible applicants who do not possess any of the identification documents are required to present two persons who are already Registered Voters to guarantee their registration.

The statement therefore informs the Public that it is a criminal offense for non-Ghanaians and minors to attempt to register as offenders and those who guarantee for them will be liable for prosecution. It added that guarantors who guarantee for more than the legally mandated number of ten persons will be prosecuted.

The Electoral Commission is thereby encouraging all eligible applicants to register and vote in the upcoming District Level Elections. The EC is urging the Public to support the 2023 Limited Voter Registration Exercise.
