Some users of the Electricity of Ghana, ECG’s online pre-paid platform are appealing to authorities to ensure that the platform stays active, especially during the season of a partial lockdown.

Tema, Kasoa, Accra, and part of the Central Region are currently observing President Akufo’s Imposition of Restrictions Order, as part of measures by the government to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

The Tema residents say the pre-paid platform has not been working as expected, making it impossible to purchase power. Some of the people Radio Ghana spoke to, say the situation is quite unbearable, especially when lights are off and there is no energy to power cooling systems and prepare food, while they are also required to STAY AT HOME.

Most of the people around Community two were seen in queues yesterday attempting to have their issues resolved, but information picked up indicates that ECG’s online platform has been experiencing some challenges of late, especially with customers who have been hooked onto the tiny new meters. But, ECG officials are yet to indicate when the issues on its on-line pre-paid platform and app will be resolved.
