The Electricity Company of Ghana ECG says it has halted maintenance works on its transformers within the Greater Accra Region until ongoing works in the West Africa Gas pipeline is completed next month.

According to ECG, the move is to ensure that power outages, which results from the shut down of the transformers for maintenance works will be reduced to the bearest minimum.

Reacting to this an Energy Expert, Kwame Jantuah described the decision by the ECG as a wrong move.

This is because halting maintenance work on the transformer means the solution to the power crisis has been postponed .

He told Nathaniel Nartey that ECG needs to be forthcoming with information on power outages to clear the negative public perception.
