Ejura Probe: MCE denies having anything to do with Mohammed Awal’s death

The Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipal Chief Executive, Mohammed Salisu Bamba, has denied having anything to do with the death of the social media activist, Mohammed Awal alias Kaaka on the 28th of last month.

Giving his testimony as the 8th Witness at the ongoing public enquiry into the Ejura disturbances.

The MCE said the accusations against him in relation to Kaaka’s death could only be borne out of partisan politics and that prior to the attack on the man, a section of the youth in the town had been instigated against him as the political head of the Municipality and also against the police and that the lynching of Kaaka could only be the immediate cause of the disturbances.

Mr. Bamba indicated that while returning from an official assignment in Accra on the 29th of last month after the shooting incident, he had calls to seek refuge since he was the target of a mob and had to reluctantly oblige since his entry into the Ejura township could have worsened the tension.

The MCE denied ever calling for a military reinforcement in the situation.
