The Head of Civil Service, Nana Kwasi Agyekum-Dwamena, has called upon all Civil Servants to remain politically neutral before and during general election, in line with the Supreme Court’s ruling.

According to him, any Civil Service Staff found on political platform campaigning or doing anything in support of party will be asked to resign accordingly.

Speaking at the press launch in Accra to begin the 2020 Civil Service Week celebration, Nana Kwasi Agyekum-Dwamena said, “all civil servants should be guided by the Supreme Court’s ruling on the political neutrality of Civil Servants.”

He said, as they approach an election period, “we have to remind ourselves of our core values of impartiality and our role as Civil Service staff”.

Mr. Agyekum-Dwamena further admonished all Civil Servants to desist from being tempted to engage in open party politics but stressed, the need for them to “be alive to Civic responsibilities as Ghanaians but maintain sense of duty as Civil Service Staff”.

On the re-development of the Ministerial Enclave, he said, “the Office of Head of Civil Service in collaboration with the Ministry of Roads and Highways has commenced the redevelopment of the Ministerial enclave in a bid to provide a more conducive environment for the serious business of Government operations.”

“The physical works have commenced with a traffic management scheme to create a one-way system to the enclave to reduce traffic and congestion.”

“Other works including the provision of clearly defined walkways and parking system will be undertaken, the next stage will be to rationalise the various non-essential private sector activities in the enclave,” he added.

The celebration is under the theme: Civil Service and Private Sector synergy: A national development imperative.
