Electricity supply to University of Environment and Sustainable Development to be enhanced

Electricity supply to the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), at Somanya in the Eastern Region is to be enhanced to ensure uninterrupted power to the University.

The existing eleven kilovolts-ampere, kva is to be upgraded to thirty-three kva.

This is to guard the University’s equipment and facility which usually require optimum voltage.

Minister of Energy, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, announced this during a meeting with a five-member delegation from the University, led by its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eric Nyarko-Sampson.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh said the equipment and gadgets used at the University are very expensive and it is appropriate arrangements for the upgrade begin immediately. He revealed that Phase two of the University’s infrastructural development has already passed the value for money stage in Parliament and was certain several infrastructural projects will begin on campus in the next few years.

The leader of the delegation, Prof. Eric Nyarko- Sampson, explained that the meeting with the minister forms part of planned engagements with the University’s partners and stakeholders to explore areas of collaboration.
