Missing excavator: Ellembelle DCE in Court, but case not called

Kwasi Bonzo.

By Desmond Cudjoe, Sekondi.

There was no show this morning at the Takoradi Circuit A where the District Chief Executive for Ellembelle, Kwasi Bonzo, and three others arrested in connection with the Ellembelle missing excavator case.

The suspects were brought to the court on Thursday morning but were returned to the Regional Police Headquarters due to what we got to know were instructions from above.

However, Information gathered indicates that the DCE who was arrested on Wednesday, September 7, morning and granted bail in the night was not part of those processed for court today.

Background

The Police, through intelligence operations, retrieved one of the excavators reported missing at Ellembelle in the Western Region.

A news brief from the Police said a team of operations and intelligence officers working day and night discovered the missing excavator several kilometres into a forest within the Ellembelle District.

It said while the team of police officers were escorting the excavator to Takoradi, at the Axim Junction, Mr Kwasi Bonzo, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Ellembelle, organised and led some alleged “thugs” to attack the police and obstruct the operation.

The brief said the DCE and three others were, therefore, arrested accordingly.&nbsp;</p>

It said the Police would continue with investigations to recover the other excavators and arrest all those involved.
