Chairman of Jospong Group of Companies, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong says he will collaborate and partner with existing Rice Producers in the country to improve and revive the sector.
The Group has in the meantime begun to look for vast land for the project.
To this end, Dr. Siaw Agyepong has brought 33 Thais Rice Producers along the value chain into the country to help with the project.
Speaking on GBC’s Market Avenue, Chairman, Competitive African Rice Platform, Ghana Branch, Yaw Adu-Poku said the move, follows a visit to Thailand by Dr. Siaw Agyepong and some group of people to learn more about rice production and sign Memorandum of Understandings with companies along the Rice value chain in Thailand.
He was optimistic that the Thais will help change, improve and grow the rice sector for Ghana to be a rice sufficient country.
Mr. Adu-Poku said it is refreshing that the National Service Scheme has started the posting of National Service Personnel into the sector for the young people, especially, to learn more about farming, all in an effort to encourage the youth into Agriculture.
