The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has begun searching the office and residence of Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged financial offences.
The searches follow more than an hour of questioning of the MP at the EOCO headquarters on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah reported himself to EOCO earlier in the day after an Accra High Court issued a warrant for his arrest.
He arrived at the EOCO office with his lawyer, Samuel Atta Kyea, and some of his parliamentary colleagues.
After the questioning, EOCO officials proceeded to the MP’s office and residence to execute a search warrant granted by the High Court.
The warrant was issued on Wednesday, September 30, after EOCO told the court that it had exhausted reasonable efforts to secure the MP’s voluntary attendance for questioning.
The development follows an earlier attempt by EOCO officials to arrest the MP at the Accra High Court, which resulted in a heated confrontation.
Among the MPs who accompanied Mr Baffour Awuah to the EOCO office were Kofi Amankwah Manu, Subin MP Obiri Yeboah, and former Deputy Attorney-General Joseph Kpemka.
The Manhyia South MP is being investigated over alleged unauthorised financial transactions at SIC Life Savings & Loans Company Limited.
Deputy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr Justice Srem-Sai, has said the investigation covers suspected offences including financial loss, dissipation of public funds and money laundering.
The searches at the MP’s office and residence form part of EOCO’s ongoing investigations.
The allegations against the MP have not been established in court.
