Ex-army Commander urges gov't workers to leave indible mark for posterity

The immediate past General Officer Commanding the Central Command of the Ghana Army Forces Brigadier General Cosmas Bretu Alhassan has reminded public servants particularly personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces that they are not indispensable. Therefore when they are giving the opportunity to serve in any capacity as public servants, they should endeavour to render the best of service and leave an ineradicable mark behind for posterity after they have left.

Brigadier General Alhassan was addressing officers and men of the command at a transfer of Authority and a pulling out parade organised in his honour at the Headquarters of the Central Command in Kumasi.

The immediate past General Officer Commanding the Central Command of the Ghana Armed Forces has been reassigned by the President to take the position of Defence Attache’ at the Ghana Embassy in Brazil.

After serving two and half years as GOC, he handed over the baton of authority to Brigadier General Joseph Aduko Aphour who until now was the Director of Logistics at the General Headquarters of the Ghana Armed Forces.

As such when they are giving the opportunity to serve in any capacity as public servants, they should endeavour to render the best of service and leave an indelible mark behind for posterity after they have left.

He highlighted some achievements chalked up during his tenure as GOC.

The Ashanti Regional Minister and chairman of the Regional Security Council, Simon Osei-Mensah commended Brigadier General Alhassan for his professionalism, cooperation and support as key member of REGSEC.

Mr. Osei Mensah also had an admonition for the new GOC Central Command, Brigadier General Aphour.

As part of military tradition, the pulling out ceremony is organised to climax the formal transfer of authority and responsibility and taking over process between officers of a Command or Unit.
