The Ayieta family of Sandema to which Gregory Afoko belongs has organised a press conference in Accra on the continuous detention of Gregory Afoko, four years after his arrest.

Speaking at the event, the spokesperson of the family, Robert Asekata said since the arrest, Gregory Afoko, has been denied bail even when he was clearly sick and required urgent medical attention.

He added that Mr Afoko has been denied access to his lawyer and the family while in detention.

Gregory Afoko since his arrest on 21st May 2015 has been in detention with the law enforcement agencies and charged with the murder of Adams Mahama, former Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP).

He has since been standing trial at the High Court. The family is appealing to government and International human rights organisations to intervene so family members can have access to him.
