A 39-year-old man has been sentenced to 22 years in prison in hard labor by the Tema Circuit Court for defiling his daughter.

Narrating the incidence in Court presided over by Mrs. Agnes Opoku, the Prosecutor DSP Stanley Dzakpasu, said the accused person, Daniel Dzorh lived with his family at ‘BulaSo’, a developing community within the Ningo – Prampram District.

Prosecution said on the 13th of August this year, the Tema Regional Police picked up the suspect upon receiving information that he had raped his 15-year-old daughter.

DSP Dzakpasu told the court that the accused person had been defiling his daughter for three years and did not allow anyone near her for fear of being exposed. Prosecution said the accused person repeatedly defiled her anytime the mother was out of the house and beats her up when he finds her interacting with neighbours.

Daniel Dzorh, however denied all the allegations.

A medical examination on the victim at the Tema General Hospital revealed she had been sexually abused. The report added that the victim had bruises on her body consistent with beatings.

After four months of adjudication, the Presiding Judge, Mrs. Agnes Opoku Barley sentenced the accused person to 22 years in prison in hard labour.
