The Food and Drugs Authority, FDA, is warning the public against an unregistered Indomie Instant Noodles which has been recalled in some African countries.

The product is suspected to have high levels of aflatoxins and pesticides.

In a statement, the FDA said the Indomie Instant Noodles (Chicken Flavour) with inscription label ‘Ladha Ya Kuku’ “is not a registered product in Ghana.”

The statement said “the only Indomie Instant Chicken Noodles product that is registered in Ghana is manufactured locally and occasionally sourced from Nigeria. Both products are taken through a rigorous process including testing regimes for aflatoxins and pesticide residues before market authorization is given. Periodic post-market testing is also conducted”.

The statement said the Authority is however picking samples from various points of sales across the country for testing at the Centre for Laboratory Services and Research.

The FDA says its surveillance team are monitoring the markets for any unregistered indomie products and is urging people in possession of the unregistered products to contact the FDA.

The statement assured the general public that the Authority will not renege on its mandate to protect public health and safety.
