FDA directs manufacturers, sellers of unregistered body enhancement products to stop

The Food and Drugs Authority, FDA, has cautioned manufacturers and sellers of unregistered body enhancement products on the markets to desist from such act.

Speaking on ‘Behind The News’, Head of Communications and Public Education at the FDA, Rhoda Appiah said this act is illegal and can have adverse health implications on consumers.

Consequently, she warned that the Authority will prosecute all companies and individuals who do not adhere to the directive.

She revealed that as part of its routine market surveillance, it was discovered that some companies are producing, selling and advertising body enhancement products with no authorization from the authority and in contravention of the Public Health Act 2012 (Act 851).

Madam Appiah therefore urged the public not to patronize such products as their quality and safety cannot be guaranteed.
