FDA registers 45 companies to produce local PPEs

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has so far registered 45 companies to produce homemade facemasks, gloves and face shields.

In the wake of the Coronavirus scourge, the Ministry of Health has directed the use of face masks in all public places where it may be difficult to maintain social distancing.

It also recommends that Ghanaians use only FDA-approved masks.

The use of face masks can slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus, but do not know, from transmitting it to others.

There are three main types of face masks available offering different levels of protection: disposable surgical/medical, N95 masks and cloth masks.
