Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has acknowledged that his outfit is holding discussions with stakeholders concerning roadmaps towards transforming the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).

He made this statement during the Public Accounts Committee hearing on Friday, November 7, 2025, in Accra.

According to him, the state broadcaster has been riddled with challenges for far too long, citing instances of low revenue and issues with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), for which he has had to step in.

He further stated that the TV license campaign, though commendable, is not enough to address the Corporation’s financial challenges.

“TV license alone is woefully inadequate compared to GBC’s challenges, so we are discussing roadmaps towards transforming GBC,” he said.

Mr. Kwakye Ofosu also emphasized the need for a comprehensive plan to transform GBC, including implementing an enforcement mechanism to ensure TV license fee payment.

“We need to put in place an enforcement mechanism to get people to pay their TV license to GBC.”

He further suggested that the state broadcaster must be able to provide quality content to entice citizens to pay their TV license fees.
