A 16 room Compound House has been razed down by fire at Koblimagu, a suburb of Tamale Metropolis in the Northern region.
The fire which started early hours of Tuesday, January 25, 2022 burnt everything including property worth thousands of cedis.
It is unclear what might have sparked the fire but some of the tenants have blamed it on intermittent fire fluctuations.
Officials of the Ghana National Fire Service, led by its PRO, Assistant Divisional Officer Grade 11 (ADO11), who were at the scene said the situation could have been saved if the occupants had placed a quick SOS call.
Joyce Kantam Kolamong reports that occupants at the time of the incident tried to quench the fire but the intensity of the fire was too great and they vhad to run for their lives.
By the time Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service were called to the scene, the property was almost razed to the ground.
Speaking to GBC News, the Public Relations Officer, ADO11 Baba Hudu, said investigations will soon commence to determine the cause of the fire. He expressed worry over delayed calls whenever there is a fire incident.
“Fire outbreak can happen at anytime therefore the public should endeavor to call our emergency lines during an outbreak”.
Caretaker of the house, Mohammed Ahmed, urged the public to be on the alert for any electrical faults or intermittent power fluctuations. He called on famillies and friends as well as philanthropists to come to their aid since they have lost all their belongings.
The inferno brings to 46, the number of fire outbreaks recorded in the Tamale Municipality so far this year.
This is a concern to the Fire Service authorities as they continue to advise the public to adhere to safety, especially at home.
