First Ghanaian returnees arrive from Kuwait

More than two hundred Ghanaian nationals returned home from Kuwait arrived in Accra on Saturday, May 23, and were sent to treatment centers for a 14-day mandatory quarantine.

The returnees are part of more than three thousand Ghanaians stranded in various countries due to the closure of the country’s borders in a bid to contain COVID-19.

The Kuwaiti airliner which touched down at the Kotoka International Airport also had Togolese Nationals on board who have since been flown to their country.

Before their departure to the Treatment Centre, the group had a warm reception and counseling from Health Experts and some Government Officials.

According to Communications officer of the Operation COVID Safety Committee, Lawyer Osei Bonsu, more Ghanaians would be repatriated in the coming weeks under an exercise Code-named “Operation Return Home”.

Minister of Aviation, Kofi Adda said the returnees are observing the necessary protocols.
