Floods: 336 people displaced in Upper West Region

The National Disaster Management Organization, NADMO in the Upper West Region, says three hundred and thirty-six people have so far been displaced by the floods that occurred in the region a few days ago.

One thousand Six hundred and five (1,605) farmers also have their farms destroyed, constituting seven hundred and twenty-two farmlands.

The Upper West Regional Director of NADMO, Mustapha Ahmed, disclosed this to GBC NEWS at Wa.

He said though NADMO is having difficulty in reaching some of the affected areas, information gathered from Assembly Members in Three Districts, indicates, that eighty houses have also collapsed making life difficult for the people.

The Districts that have been assessed so far are the Nadowli-Kaleo, Daffiama-Bussie-Issa and Jirapa.

Mr. Ahmed said NADMO is preparing to reach out to the affected persons to alleviate their suffering.

He however said the assistance will not be enough and appealed to individuals and organizations to support in this time of emergency.
