By Yvonne Atilego

Some parts of Accra have flooded again following a downpour Wednesday, June 15, 2022. Areas such as Adabraka, Osu, Kaneshie First Light, Trade Fair, Accra Central, among other areas, had drains unable to contain floodwaters.

The situation resulted in vehicular congestion as some vehicles were unable to pass through the floodwaters.

Recent rains have resulted in flooding in most parts of Accra with an apparent no end in sight, at least until the end of the rainy season.

The Ghana Meteorological Agency has given indications of more rains between now and the end of July. According to the Agency, the rains will come until September but will not be as heavy as earlier showers. The Agency asked Ghanaians to guard against floods, especially in the southern part of the country. AdomDerkye, who is with the Marine Unit of the Ghana Meteorological Agency said there is a collaboration between the Agency and NADMO to sensitize persons living in some of the areas to be affected.

The Police in a tweet asked residents of the capital and surrounding areas to avoid low-lying and flood-prone areas.
